Minehowe from the air
A revealing picture of the Minehowe
site from the air.
The large oval shaped howe in the centre
of the picture is Longhowe, the site of a number of Bronze
age cist burials. To the right of Longhowe, the circular outline
of the original broch is clearly visible. The area surrounding
this broch would have been watery marsh, Longhowe acting as
a land bridge between the broch and the chamber within Minehowe.
Minehowe, is the smaller howe above and
slightly to the left of Longhowe.
Also plainly evident in this picture is
the ring of mounds that seem to encircle the site. |
